Alderwoman Jean Johnson
Alderwoman Jean Johnson is a proud lifelong resident of Covington, Tennessee, whose life has been dedicated to serving God, her family, and the citizens of her hometown. Born and raised in Covington, Jean is the daughter of the later John W. "Preacher" Johnson and Martha Johnson, who instilled in her the values of faither, integrity, compassion, and service to others. Jean graduated from Covington High School before continuing her education at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where she pursued a degree in Elementary Education. Inspired by a passion for helping children reach their fullest potential, she devoted many years to teaching Special Education students in the Tipton County School District. Throughout her career in education, Jean became known for her patience, dedication, and unwavering belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
Following her years in the classroom, Jean continued her career in public service by joining the administrative team at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton, where she worked to support quality healthcare services for the community. Her experiences in both education and healthcare strengthened her commitment to improving the quality-of-life for families throughout Covington.
Driven by a genuine desire to advocate for others, Jean became increasingly involved in addressing the needs for her community. Her dedication to listening to residents, solving problems, and standing up for the people of Covington led her to seek public office. She was elected as Alderwoman, where she continues to serve with honesty, compassion, and a servant's heart.
As Alderwoman, Jean is committed to strengthening infrastructure, encouraging economic growth, supporting local businesses, creating opportunities for youth and young adults, avocating for seniors, and improving public safety and neightborhood development. She believes every redisdent deserves to feel heard, valued, and represented, and she works tirelessly to help make Covington a stronger, safer, and more propserous community for all.
Above all, Jean's foundation is her faith in God. She treasures her family, values, meaningful relationships, and believes that leadership is about serving others with humility, integrity, and love. Her life's mission is to leave a lasting legacy of hope, compassion, and positive change for future generations.
